GROTTES DE LACAVE

9kms from Rocamadour, discover 11 rooms of astonishing beauty using an electric train. The largest lake is 2000m2. 1h 20 for the tour. (190kms / 2hrs 19mins)

LE GROTTE DE VILLARS

Tours lasting 45 minutes plus a 20 min film of this fascinating set of caves. Open mostly 1000 to 1900hrs. (105kms / 1hr 25mins)

LE LABYRINTHE GEANT

A multitude of activities with a vast maze grown from plants over 2.2 hectares - includes a mini farm. Opening hours are mostly the afternoons except in the holidays when it is open all day. (98kms / 1hr 15 mins)

LIMOUSINE PARK

Everything you ever wanted to know about Limousin cows! A farm, maze, restaurant. Open 1 April to 1 October from 1000 to 1830hrs. (59kms / 59 mins)

ORADOUR SUR GLANE

Probably one of the most famous sites in the region, this is the preserved site of remembrance for the massacre of the entire inhabitants of this small, prosperous village on 10 June 1944 when over 200 soldiers of the Der Führer Regiment of the 2nd Waffen-SS Panzer Division Das Reich entered the village and plundered it. They herded the women and children into the church then marched the men around the village demanding access to any money or treasures. The men were then murdered and the houses and shops burned to the ground. They then entered the church and did the same with the rest of the inhabitants. 642 people died that day with only half a dozen people escaping to tell the tale. (20kms / 19 minutes)

PARC BELLEVUE

Next to Limoges Airport, this children's park has everything to entertain the younger ones. Open 1st April throughout the summer and school holidays from 1100 to 1900hrs. (36kms / 45 minutes)

There are some beautiful lakes around the area. Here are two that are open to the public:

Lac de Saint Pardoux

During the summer they have lifeguards, drink and ice cream sales as well as toilet and shower facilities. Take a picnic and make a day of it.

Lac de Vassiviere

One of France's largest artificial lakes, it is a large man-made reservoir of about 10 square kilometres with beaches, restaurants and boats. Great location for swimming, sailing, eating or just relaxing. Adventure play area for the kids and great walks for everybody.


Due west of our village, you can reach the Cognac growing area in about one and a half hours and visit distillers such as:
